These are really nice bar stools and the price on Amazon can't be beat. Like many folks, buying furniture online sight unseen seems a bit unusual. Also, assembling this stuff can be a bit of a chore. However, these Poundex stools arrived promptly and were very carefully packed to survive in-transit abuse. When finally assembled, we now have two very sturdy and attractive bar stools at a bargain price.As to assembly, build-it-yourself furniture is probably not for everybody. In my opinion, to get satisfactory results one must be quite handy and have tools beyond the basics. This is my fourth recent purchase of furniture-in-a-box and I am happy to offer the following tips:(1) Expect some minor variations in fit and finish, so be prepared to deal with this. If you demand perfection, you should probably shop for Thomasville or Ethan Allen.(2) Before assembling, carefully glue the threaded inserts to the wooden legs. I use thin-body super glue (cyanoacrylate) to seep into the wood and then a spray accelerator for an instant set (available at your local hobby shop). This will keep the inserts from backing out when tightened and prevent loosening over time. Absolutely avoid getting glue on the inside threads where the bolt goes.(3) Use Elmer's wood glue on all wood-to-wood joints for a solid structure that doesn't wobble. Use a damp sponge to clean up any glue seepage before it dries.(4) Power tools with the correct size Phillips bit or metric hex bit really speed up assembly time. However, to avoid over-tightening or striping (even with an adjustable clutch on your drill), do the final tightening by hand.With some solid DIY skills, the right tools and some patience, most handy folks should be able to get excellent results with these bar stools or any other furniture-in-a-box project.

I looked everywhere for short, padded saddle stools. I ended up buying 4 of these from Amazon. I was a bit leary at the low price, and a few reviews saying they were tough to build and the buttons fell off. I'm happy to say that all four of mine are great. They went right together, no problem, and I've had no issue with the buttons. I will admit that we no longer have kids in the house that could inflict abuse on stools, but for us, they're great. Even arrived a day earlier that predicted! Thanks Amazon. ...again!
