I ordered 3 of these, and 2 had damaged parts. These are made in China, and while sturdy, there are quality control issues. One seat had a scratch and the wrong stain was used to repair it. The other base had some corrosion, and the whole shipment was dirty. I was able to cobble together 2 workable stools however, and the company was prompt in shipping a replacement without making me return the damaged goods. At any rate, the stools I kept are nice looking, comfortable, and work well. The seat is thick, and the stain is a nice dark color, but when the light hits it just right, they have a cheaper reddish tone to them. This is not much of an issue at our kitchen island though. I've received multiple compliments on them and am now happy with the purchase for the price.
